PreviewQt v4.0

PhotoQt v4.9.1

Published: 6th of May, 2025

PhotoQt 4.9 had a lot of exciting changes and additions. Unfortunately there were also some bugs that slipped through. This release, v4.9.1, fixes a whole range of them making PhotoQt better than ever before.

The major bug fixes and improvements in this new release include:

These are just a few of the 25 individual bug fixes and improvements in this version, you can find a more complete list in the Changelog. To catch more of such bugs going forward before releasing a new version, a formalized pre-release testing checklist has been set up. Of course, this does not mean that there wont be any bugs going forward, but this will certainly help a lot in catching many of them before they are ever live.

The next release will be v5.0, and the main focus of that release will be to add a variation of PhotoQt's interface that integrates better into desktop environments. To this end, there will likely a beta release, v4.9.9, before the final v5.0 release to help with some more widespread testing of such rather major changes. Keep an eye out for an announcement to that end closer to the next release being done. You can track the progress on this work in issue #282 over on GitLab.
