First beta version of v5.0 is ready

After many months of hard work, the first beta release of v5.0 is ready for testing. There are likely still some bugs and some things might need a bit more polishing. I'm looking for help with testing it, the more people do that and report back their feedback the better.

The upcoming v5.0 will come with numerous changes. The whole codebase has been reworked and restructured, allowing for many new features and improvements. Here is a quick overview of some of the major changes, more detailed release notes will be written up for the official v5.0 release:

Reworked code base: The code was fully reworked and restructured to be cleaner allowing for easier maintenance.
Extensions support: PhotoQt now supports extensions, both pure-QML extensions and QML+CPP extensions. A bunch of extra features that used to be integrated into PhotoQt are now moved to several official extensions. Shortly after the official release of v5.0 more details will be provided regarding how to create your own extension.
Two interface variants: PhotoQt now ships with two interface variants. The first one is the same kind of interface that PhotoQt always had (called "modern" in the settings) and one that attempts to integrate better into your desktop environment (called "integrated" in the settings).
Support for SAI images
Reworked and restructured settings manager for easier tweaking of PhotoQt
Fixed up shortcuts management engine

If you want to take part in testing the upcoming release, there are a few different ways you are able to download and install PhotoQt v5.0-beta1:

Compile from source: ZIP or TAR.GZ
AppImage
Windows installer

Note that there will likely still be some bugs. If you come across any one of them, please let me know, preferably by open up issues on GitLab. Depending on how things go, there will be another beta release or two going forward. Keep an eye out on the News section of the PhotoQt website to find out when that happens.

The translations of PhotoQt also still require some work. If you are able to help with translating PhotoQt into any language, head over to the project page of PhotoQt on Crowdin.
